Bob Sanders and Louise Gour![]()
Louise comes from a long line of "social" dancers, and first learned to appreciate dancing at family gatherings. Bob's extensive martial arts training (he is a 2nd degree black belt in Goju ryu karate) gives him a strong understanding of movement and physical control. They have won and placed in many West Coast Swing competitions and WSDC events across the US.
Bob and Louise began dancing together in 1997 as a break from their high-stress tech-sector jobs. They never looked back, and they credit dancing for helping them form a strong circle of friends in Ottawa during a time when they were both new to the city. Today, Louise is known for her exceptional musicality and funky West Coast Swing, which complement Bob's cool, masculine style.
They first began in Ballroom, dancing ChaCha, Salsa, Rumba, Foxtrot, Tango and Waltz. The country dancing craze in the 1990's introduced them to new dance styles like Two-Step, East Coast Swing, Hustle, Nightclub and West Coast Swing - their favorite dance.
They travel many times every year to various cities in the United States for dance workshops and private lessons. They have studied with some of today's top West Coast Swing US pros. They are also proud members of the World Swing Dance Council.
Bob and Louise teach group and private lessons in West Ottawa and at their home studio in Carleton Place, Ontario. Both are experienced in adult education in corporate settings.
BobaLou Dance Studio is a part-time hobby for them. By day, Bob is a process engineer for a local Ottawa high tech company, and Louise is a technology support specialist for a downtown Ottawa accounting firm.
